My 2015 Experience on NBI Clearance Application

Upon following instructions from the NBI site http://www.nbiclearance.com/how-to-apply-nbi-clearance-online/ , I print my copy and go to chosen NBI Clearance Office on the scheduled date.

My pictures and biometrics was taken and was told to be back after 13 days as indicated date of release stamped on my printed NBI Reference Code.

After 13 days , expecting to get my NBI clearance, I was told to go to the NBI Main Office at Taft for Quality Control. I asked the officer why because this is my first time that I need to go there for that reason after many times of renewing my NBI clearance, the officer told me that I have the same name with a certain individual with some criminal record.Just curious because I have 2 names which are unique and the officer told me that they do not use both names, it is either one of my names and surname.To cut the story short, I go to the NBI Main Office , it was exactly 2pm and hurray , it is already cut-off, so I need to go back the next day.

In order to complete it earlier and avoid the hassels of traffic, I decided to go there before 7am. When I go there only few applicants are waiting, I asked the officer to give me a number and alas I am the 20th .At first , I am hesitate to go there due to some negative blogs I read from the net that I need to sign and take an oath that I am not the person with the criminal case and it needs to be notarized etc., but since I know in my conscience that I do not have any criminal records, I decided to go and experience what is that "Quality Control".

When my number is called, I walked into the Quality Control Office and sit in front of the officer, the officer just do some verification process (it takes only about 2 minutes).I was given a "Sinumpaang Salaysay" to sign that I am not the person with criminal case.The officer signed my NBI Reference Code and was advised to go to the releasing section for printing, Alas! I have my NBI Clearance.

I wrote this blog to inform that you should not be afraid to go to the NBI Main Office once you were advised to go to "Quality Control" , they will just do some verification process and make it sure to arrive there much earlier to avoid long queue.

To NBI , I hope they will improve their system by including the second or third name of the person on checking their lists (filtering) to avoid extra work for verification process, having a 2nd and third name's objective by the parents is to give their children unique names to separate them from usual names .

On the bright side, I may say that their Online helps a lot compared to their previous manual process and seeing the NBI Main Office, the process like signage improved and the officers are friendly.
